– Who were important inventors of computers?
– When were the first video games invented?

Solar eclipse project

March 24th, 2015

LO: Can I explain what a solar eclipse is?

This week and next week, I would like you to exaplain excactly what a solar eclipse is. Here are some questions for you to consider:

– What happens during a solar eclipse?
– Why are they unusual?
– When will the next one be?
– Are there any other types of eclipse?
– How can you safely view a solar eclipse?

Here are some websites which might help you:

Space facts
Kidseclipse
How to make a pinhole camera

If you would like to add pictures, use Photopin and make sure you choose the images which are NOT sponsored.

You can persent your information anyway you like. Think about using apps such as explain everything (which can include audio or video), or pic collage and of course you can use good, old fashioned text in a blog post.

You will be working in pairs, with an iPad each. I would like one of you to research your information and one of you to present.

It finally worked…

March 5th, 2015

Edi, Wajahat, Memunah, Ikram, Conner and Aiden included a very difficult section in their marble run. The marble had to hit a cup covered in a balloon, bounce off, land in exactly the right place to head off down another tube, finally ending up in a bowl on the floor. Many takes later and it worked! The class went wild!!!!!

6a and their awesome marble runs!

March 5th, 2015

As part of our ‘Fairgrounds’ topic we combined our scientific knowledge of forces to design and make our own very marble run roller coaster.

Each group was responsible for creating a fully working roller coaster that showed a range of forces such as potential energy, kinetic energy, centrifugal force and inertia – some even included upthrust!

Below is the final roller coaster along with an explanation of how it works.

Edward Elgar: Pomp & Circumstance – Land of Hope & Glory

September 26th, 2014

Edward Elgar will be forever linked with the song “Land of Hope and Glory”, from his Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 of 1902 originally had no words.

The words were added to Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 later by A. C. Benson (1862-1925), who had originally written a longer poem to sung over the finale of Elgar’s Coronation Ode.
The chorus of this poem makes up the familiar words to Land of Hope and Glory – though an extra note had to be added to Elgar’s original Pomp and Circumstance theme to make the words fit.

It is said he wasn’t a big fan of having words added to his instrumental piece!
He wrote the tune that is sung at Last Night of the Proms, and almost every occasion celebrating English, as opposed to British, patriotism.

Today we are using this piece of music as our stimulus.

We have listen to this music but as we have listened to it we have wrote about how the music made us feel.

See below or our posts for our responses.
